I finally went to stretch my legs, and hamstrings, and glutes........ This whole city is made of steep hills which is good PT, I guess. Loved walking the streets while listening to the loud and competitive calls to prayer. The downtown area is just 10 minutes down (steep down) the street and is vibrant and entertaining. Cloths stores, food hawkers, lots of perfume vendors and men just hanging out on the streets. Many times you could look up and see balconies with locals smoking Shisha pipes - more to come later on that. I bought my local sim card for my phone and head back up the hill to get a bite to eat at the hotel where I ate the BEST hummus!!!

General observations:

-locals love to blow their car horns

-all limestone buildings - they are not allowed to paint their houses

-lots of calls for prayer

-hills, hills and hills

-see more men out and about than women

This was a view into someone's apartment. The mosque was homemade and the rooftops and half moon was made with tinfoil.

Arrived safely to Amman, Jordan and now in my hotel with an excellent view. Greeted at airport with a call to prayer and now again as I attempt to take a little nap. Hard to take a nap when I have a view and am so excited about being in a new city. Hoping Paul gets in ok later tonight. View includes a Roman Theater upper right on the hill and the Amman Citadel (center top of hill).

Board in a few minutes. Whew! Onward to Jordan, Egypt and Cyprus. Too bad Israel fell off the itinerary. See you in Amman Paul.
